ACT records 10 new COVID-19 cases

The ACT has recorded 10 new cases of COVID-19, as virus restrictions were further eased in the capital.

The latest health figures show there are nine cases with the virus in hospital in the territory.

There are six patients in intensive care, with five of those on ventilators.

Testing numbers registered a slight increase, with 1680 conducted on Thursday.

The ACT's nation-leading vaccine rate continues to rise, with 92.3 per cent of the territory's population over the age of 12 now double-dosed.

The new virus numbers come as further COVID restrictions were eased in Canberra on Friday.

Masks are no longer mandated to be worn outdoors, with 10 visitors allowed in the home and gatherings of 30 people outdoors permitted.

Density limits have also increased for cafes, restaurants and pubs.

Many places that have been closed to the public since the start of the Canberra lockdown in August will also be allowed to reopen to the public.

Among them are cinemas, performance venues, food courts, dance classes, entertainment venues and attractions such as museums, galleries and zoos.

Hairdressers and beauty services, churches, community centres, gyms, swimming pools and casinos will also be allowed to let in more people, subject to density limits.

It comes ahead of the resumption of travel to all of NSW and Victoria on November 1.

There are now 234 active cases of COVID-19 in the Canberra community, with a total of 1635 cases recorded since the current outbreak began.
