Acid attack at Andrews Farm home leaves man with serious burns

A man is recovering in hospital after suffering serious acid burns during an altercation at a home in Adelaide's north last night.

The 55-year-old man had a mixture of hydrochloric acid and petrol thrown on him at a house on Leicester Grove in Andrews Farm about 9pm.

The suspect — a 62-year-old local man — has since been arrested and charged.

After the incident, he allegedly ran off but was chased down by the victim, and police found the pair in nearby Premier Close.

The victim sustained burns to his head, shoulder and arm, and was taken to the Lyell McEwin Hospital for treatment before being transferred to the Royal Adelaide.

Police said his injuries were not considered life-threatening.

A neighbour said he was watching TV when he heard noises outside.

"I thought 'What in the hell's that?', so I went in the bedroom to have a look through the window and the street's full of fire trucks," he said.

The suspect sustained head injuries and was also taken to hospital.

He was arrested and has since been charged with aggravated assault causing harm.

Police said the incident was not random and the two men were known to each other.
