POLICE have credited collaboration for the arrest of a wanted man in Mayfield.
Officers attended Fawcett Street on Tuesday afternoon in relation to five warrants following community information that a man was in the area.
It is alleged the wanted man knocked on a residence's door before forcing his way inside, running through the property to the backyard.
Plain clothes police were patrolling the area at the time.
Lake Macquarie and Newcastle police responded after the resident raised the alarm, finding the man after he hailed a taxi to flee the area.
Police stopped the taxi on Crebert Street.
It is alleged the man fled the vehicle, running through several yards and homes before police caught up with him.
He was arrested without incident and searched. Police will allege the man was in possession of two knives.

The Gateshead man, 21, was taken to Newcastle police station.
He was charged in relation to the five outstanding warrants as well as with custody of a knife in a public place and two counts of enter enclosed lands without lawful excuse.
He was refused bail to face court in Newcastle on Wednesday.
