A man accused of the stabbing murder of a father-of-five in a park south of Brisbane has been committed to stand trial.

Harley David Wegener will face the Supreme Court on a date yet to be decided after his committal hearing concluded in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

The 32-year-old is charged with murdering Benjamin Suttie in Prince Park at Woodridge in August 2018.

Mr Suttie, 37, had been returning from a night out with his adult son and his son's girlfriend when they allegedly became involved in an altercation with another group.

He was stabbed in the neck, dying three days later in hospital.

Police arrested Wegener at a Woodridge property within days.
