HYDERABAD: Following the gang rape of teenage girl in Jubilee Hills last week, the five accused persons returned to the bakery in Banjara Hills, from which the victim was picked up earlier on the same day. The accused led normal lives for two days after committing the crime.
The accused persons, who left for different places on the same night after spending some time in the bakery, fled two days after their friends enquired about the incident. “The accused initially denied to have committed anything foul and by the time the complaint was lodged, they were inaccessible,” said a police.
According to the police, the victim met the accused at a party in a pub at Jubilee Hills on May 28. Later, the accused along with the victim went to a bakery, where they spent some time. On the pretext of dropping her home from the bakery, the accused took the vehicle to an isolated place and raped her. Subsequently, they dropped her at the same pub, where they initially met her.
“After the offence, the accused returned to the same bakery and took a group photo. The victim’s male friend, who took her to the pub, questioned the accused about sexual assault after coming to know about the disturbed victim. The accused became alert after that,” said Joel Davis, deputy commissioner of police (West Zone). Police said that the statement given by the victim was corroborated by the arrested accused.
Meanwhile, police seized the Innova. When asked about the viral photograph of the victim in the company of man inside a car, police clarified that it was perhaps a development which took place prior to the gang rape.
“The victim did not tell anything about the incident in another car or elsewhere, prior to the rape. However, we will be talking to her once again in detail and verify the details behind the photograph and then take a decision whether to register a case against the boy who was with her in the photograph,” the DCP said.
