Accused killer tells family of Kyneton woman 'it was an accident'

Charles McKenzie Ross Evans is accused of killing 41-year-old Alicia Maree Little at Kyneton last week.

A man charged with the murder of a woman in central Victoria has told the victim's family "it was an accident".

Charles McKenzie Ross Evans is accused of killing 41-year-old Alicia Maree Little at Kyneton last week.

Several of Ms Little's family and friends were in Bendigo today to see Mr Evans face court.

As he was led away from the dock, the 44-year-old turned to the public gallery and said "it was an accident".

The court heard police will undertake a crime scene reconstruction because there was a motor vehicle involved in the death.

The magistrate was told phone records also have to be assessed.

Ms Little's body was found at the rural property on Kyneton's outskirts on December 28.

Mr Evans was arrested at the scene, before being interviewed and charged the next day.

He is due back at the Bendigo Magistrates' Court in May.
