Accused killer had 'relationship problems'

Ricardo Barbaro was arrested in Sydney 10 days after Ellie Price's body was found. (AAP)

A man went to his doctor about "relationship problems" before allegedly murdering a Melbourne woman.

Ricardo Barbaro is charged with the murder of Ellie Price, whose body was found at her South Melbourne home in May.

Prosecutors say the 26-year-old mum was murdered sometime between April 29 and May 4.

Barbaro told his GP he was having "relationship problems" in an appointment on April 28, Melbourne Magistrates Court was told on Thursday.

He said he was living with someone and there'd been an argument but did not mention any names, Reda Makarious said.

The doctor said Barbaro also mentioned he was having financial problems. He was seeing a drug counsellor, sometimes "heard noises" and was taking Viagra.

Barbaro requested a mental health care plan, which provides rebates for psychological treatment.

"(He) appeared sad," Dr Makarious said, adding "he was willing to fix himself".

Barbaro was arrested in Sydney 10 days after Ms Price's body was found.
