The manhunt for Travis Decker, the Washington father accused of murdering the Decker sisters, his three young daughters, continues to intensify as authorities believe he could survive undetected in the wilderness for weeks.

The shocking Deckers sisters murder
On May 30, 2025, Travis Decker, 32, picked up his daughters, Paityn, Evelyn, and Olivia, ages 9, 8, and 5, for a routine custody visit. When he failed to return them, their mother, Whitney Decker, reported them missing. Tragically, on June 2, the three young girls were found dead at Rock Island Campground, about 12 miles south of Wenatchee, Washington.
Decker’s abandoned vehicle was located near the campground with his wallet, cell phone, and other personal items inside. Blood evidence was also recovered from the scene. The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the crime scene included disturbing elements. Authorities have avoided releasing graphic details.
The McCall, Idaho false alarm
Authorities recently responded to a tip about a possible sighting of Decker in McCall, a popular outdoor destination in Idaho. After investigation, law enforcement determined it was not him. Nonetheless, the false alarm underscores fears that Decker could be using backcountry trails and camping areas to hide.
Given his experience and the terrain between central Washington and northern Idaho, search efforts are focusing on areas where someone with Decker’s training could survive without detection. Investigators have not ruled out that he may still be in the Pacific Northwest.

Decker’s military history is a critical factor in the ongoing manhunt. A former Army soldier with documented survival training, Decker is believed to be capable of enduring harsh environments. Officials say he has previously discussed living off-grid and may have premeditated this escape route.
