NAKHON RATCHASIMA: The director of a private hospital director accused of fondling women factory workers' breasts during their annual company health examination failed to report to police as scheduled on Monday, saying he was too busy with his patients.
The doctor, whose name has still not been released, was summonsed to report for questioning and to acknowledge charges of sexual harassment.
Pol Lt Col Trakarn Saksrikrom, an interrogator at Sungnoen police station, said the doctor's lawyer requested a postponement to Dec 3 because he was unable to free himself from the demands of treating his patients.
If the doctor failed to report on Dec 3, a second summons would be issued, Pol Lt Col Trakarn said.
Police had already questioned the 11 women workers who alleged he molested them, and four others who gave witness statements. Investigators were now waiting only to hear from the accused doctor.
If he again failed to meet police after a second summons, he could face an arrest warrant.
An offender in a sexual molestation case was liable to a jail term of up to 10 years and/or a fine of 200,000 baht, Pol Lt Col Trakarn said.
The accused is the director of a private hospital in downtown Nakhon Ratchasima.
His accusers are workers at the Siam Fukoku factory, which produces rubber parts for cars. The doctor allegedly committed the offences while giving them annual company physical health checkups on Nov 17.
Complainants said that doctors had not used their fingers to feel around their breasts during previous annual health examinations, which did not cover breast cancer. They also said that only good-looking workers had their breasts caressed, not all the women employees being checked.
