Accountant to hire 15 staff after expanding hotel services business

French Duncan LLP has launched a recruitment drive after seeing a boom in demand for hotel accounting services.

The 117-year-old firm is firm is to hire 15 new people ranging from part-qualified accountant level to young people starting their career. It is targeting a 40% increase in staffing levels over the next five year.

The appointments will be made between now and August on the back of gaining new clients. The firm recently expanded its Finnieston offices in Glasgow to 20,000sq ft, taking on a third floor.

Managing partner Graeme Finnie said: “These appointments highlight just how well our Hotel Accounting team is doing and reflect the growth we have already seen. This is part of our five-year expansion plan to increase our overall numbers by 40% and to grow the business alongside our traditional accountancy service offering.

“There remain substantial growth opportunities in the accountancy sector, but we believe that the future for French Duncan  lies in offering a wider range of services to our clients. As part of this we now offer HR and IT services, building on the model of our hotel accounting service.

"These appointments continue our recruitment drive which has already seen us appoint 24 new employees over the last nine months. We are committed to hiring the very best individuals and offering them fantastic employment prospects and a great working environment.”

French Duncan hotel accounting clients include Doubletree by Hilton, Residence Inn Marriott, Best Western, and Starwood Hotels and resorts. The hotel accounting subsidiary of French Duncan LLP provides a completely paperless accounting function offering real-time financial information to clients on any mobile device.

Ian Bremner, hotel accounting director with French Duncan, said that “These 15 new places are essential to meet the growing demand for our innovative, unique service which provides real time, automated, bespoke financial data to the hospitality sector. We have grown the Hotel Accounting Service substantially over the last few years to become one of the leading providers in this sector. I think that the market will expand substantially in the coming years as more hotel owners and management companies find out about our unique offer.”
