Accountancy firm Saffery Champness has promoted Sean McGinness to VAT partner in its Edinburgh office and appointed Alan Main as VAT senior manager.
The London headquartered firm now has 13 partners across its Scottish offices in the capital and Inverness.
Main joins the company from Johnston Carmichael where he was also VAT senior manager.

McGinness and Main will be preparing clients for changes to VAT on services in the construction supply chain, placing an extra burden on the seller in an attempt to prevent fraud. The rules come into force on 1 October.

McGinness said: "These changes are significant for all business in the construction supply chain from sub-contractors to landowners.
"It is important that they are understood to ensure appropriate processes and controls are in place from October.
"Whilst the measures are aimed at VAT evasion they are widely drawn and there is the possibility that businesses could be at risk of unexpected VAT costs and penalties if they do not take action to prepare."
