Accountancy giant KPMG announces creation of 800 jobs

Accountancy giant KPMG has announced it is to create 800 new jobs in Ireland this year.

The positions will be spread across the finance consultancy firm’s offices in Dublin, Cork, Galway and Belfast.

It’s understood that 400 of the new roles will be for experienced professionals while the other half will be for graduates.

KPMG said its growth was due to the rapid rise in technological advance and its clients increasing digital demands, in particular surrounding cyber security and data analytics.

It said its consultancy services and expertise in the areas of sustainability and decarbonisation were also being sought by clients as climate-change concerns come more and more to the fore in business.

It added that there will be further opportunities in traditional parts of its business including regulatory advisory, corporate finance and transaction services.

The company already employs around 3,300 people in Ireland.

KPMG Ireland Managing Partner Seamus Hand said of the news: "The twin challenges of rapid technological change and increased regulation are among the key business drivers for Irish business leaders and are reflected in the growth in demand for our services allied to continued increasing demand for our audit, tax and advisory expertise."
