Ever the forward-thinker, Virgil Abloh has unveiled Louis Vuitton's menswear Spring/ Summer 2020 collection and it's as futuristic as they come.
The 14-piece capsule collection comprises a range of multifunctional garments which pay homage to Abloh's streetwear prowess, but that's not all: there are a handful of pieces in the range that have been intentionally designed with a modern-day nomad in mind.
There's a padded shirt which can double as a pillow, a parka which splits into two jackets and a coat with a back pocket which can unroll into a tent with built-in tent poles. The pocket then becomes the tent's door.
Versatile, to say the least.
39-year-old Abloh, who was appointed Artistic Director of Louis Vuitton's menswear division in March 2018, has designed the collection by envisioning what people will be wearing in the year 2054, 200 years after the French fashion house was founded in 1854.
Perhaps the most covetable of the new range is Abloh's interpretation of the brand's iconic Keepall bag, which has morphed into the new and improved Sleepall - it unfolds into a sleeping bag.
The release of "2054" follows Abloh's return to work, which he took to Instagram to elusively suggest, following a three-month hiatus which was imposed upon him by his doctor.
The Louis Vuitton 2054 collection will launch in select stores worldwide in December.
