Game of Thrones fans are in a state of confusion after Daenerys did something the series author said she couldn't.

George R.R. Martin, who wrote A Song of Ice and Fire on which the Game of Thrones series is based, has explicitly told fans before that Targaryens are not immune to fire.

TV Review: Game of Thrones, season six, episode four

"The birth of Dany's dragons was unique, magical, wondrous, a miracle. She is called The Unburnt because she walked into the flames and lived. But her brother sure as hell wasn't immune to that molten gold," Martin said.

However the latest episode ended with Daenerys emerging from a burning temple totally unscathed, just as she did that first time after her dragons hatched.

Fans are well aware of Martin's debunking of this claim and are taking to Twitter to express their upset.

Either the show-runners are simply going their own way now that they've surpassed Daenerys' book storyline, or Martin's got some explaining to do when (or if) he addresses the same scene in his upcoming book, The Winds of Winter.
