Acclaimed Greek restaurant serving gyros and halloumi fries heads to Manchester

A Liverpool restaurant that was shortlisted for an award just months after opening is heading to Manchester.

Laros, an authentic Greek street food business, will soon be serving up a menu of gyros, souvlaki, and its version of halloumi fries.

For its move to Manchester, the restaurant will be operating as a dark kitchen, delivering its food to addresses across the city.

Laros was founded by Greek chef Nikolaos Fylladitakis, originally from Crete, who opened the first restaurant on Bold Street in Liverpool this summer.

The restaurant was shortlisted in Deliveroo's annual Restaurant Awards mere weeks later, in September.

Now launching in Manchester, Laros specialises in dishes like chicken and honey or pork and tzatziki gyros, a type of Greek kebab similar to doner.

Its menu also includes chicken or lamb souvlaki, and talagani fries, made with a type of cheese similar to halloumi but 'even better', according to its owner.

For dessert, Laros is bringing its Loukoumades to Manchester, sweet Greek doughnut balls served with lavender honey syrup and chopped walnuts.

Most of the ingredients are sourced either from Greece, or using local independent suppliers.

Nikolaos explained: "Laros has become increasingly popular in Liverpool and we’ve really enjoyed serving so many people our delicious, healthy, authentic Greek cuisine.

"We work very hard to maintain the highest standard with the finest products.

"The most important part of this journey is to bring to our guests, flavours that we have grown up with and to provide a source of education of what truly Greek food entails.

"We have been very rewarded by our guest’s feedback and are delighted that they share this experience with us.

"Laros is a takeaway of the future and I want everyone to be able to enjoy restaurant quality dishes from the comfort of their own home."

Its food will be available for delivery around Manchester from October 27, through Just Eat, Uber Eats and Deliveroo.
