Accies swoop for Raith Rovers left-back

Kieran MacDonald is on the verge of a return to Hamilton Accies, after the New Douglas Park club reportedly beat Championship rivals Kilmarnock to his signature.

MacDonald, 27, was at Accies in the Premiership in season 2014-15, having moved from Clyde, and a three-year spell at Airdrie followed, before he joined Raith Rovers last season.

He was part-time while working for an engineering firm, but will return to full-time football with Accies.

It's a second signing for Accies boss Brian Rice this summer, having also added promising left-back Matthew Shiels, with several players battling it out for that slot.

Scott McMann is still at Accies, but is attracting interest from clubs in Scotland and England.
