Accies must beat Rangers, says captain Brian Easton

Brian Easton says Hamilton must try to beat league leaders Rangers on Sunday, because they're running out of time to beat the Premiership drop.

The Accies captain says February is going to be a busy month, but one that could see them move up the table.

And after Ross County came back from behind to win 2-1 at New Douglas Park, Easton says the fight for survival will go right to the end.

Easton knows it's going to be tough to take points from Steven Gerrard's men, who don't give much away, but he says they have to try.

He said: "We need to bounce back, we need to get going again.

"This league is going to stay tight up to the end, we need to concentrate on putting points on the board now and not looking at other teams, or counting on other teams to rack up those points.

"We have a tough game against Rangers on Sunday but we're going to try and get a result, because that's what we need to do at this stage of the season.

"If you look at the next few weeks, this month is massive, we've got game after game after game, but that means you can pick up points and find yourself up the table.

"That comes from us, we need to actually do the business, and get those wins in."

After some great play by debut striker Bruce Anderson had forced Stephen Kelly to put through his own net, County came roaring back and Jordan White blasted them level, before setting up a late winner for Billy Mckay.

Easton was bemused by the turn-around and felt that his side should have been further ahead, with Anderson setting up Marios Ogkmpoe for a chance that he fired inches past the post early on.

"To lose that game, especially to close rivals in the league is very disappointing, especially since we were winning 1-0," he said.

"We created chances, we felt comfortable, and at the first goal it was probably unfortunate. We could maybe do better to stop the shot, but it's a deflection and it spins in.

"The second goal was disappointing as well and it definitely feels like three points we've given away there."

Easton added: " thought we set the tempo very well at the start, wee Brucie did well to set up that chance for Marios and for the goal as well, and I think we had a couple of almost-chances in the second half, so it's disappointing that we didn't manage to make it 2-0.

"I think if we got that extra goal we could have been a lot more comfortable, I would have felt a lot more confident, and that's the danger of only being 1-0 up.

"We lost that goal, and even after that it was bitterly disappointing to lose another and the game."
