Owain Fon Williams stops shots from the best strikers in the Premiership on a regular basis, but likes to switch off by slapping paint on canvas.
The Hamilton Accies shot-stopper is a renowned artist in his spare time, has his own website, and an exhibition will open at the Storiel Gallery in Bangor, Wales, which runs from November 9 until February 4.
Welshman ‘Fonners’ says he has painted ‘forever’ to take his mind off the pressures of professional football, and finds it therapeutic.
The 32-year-old said: “I’ve got an exhibition coming in about two weeks or so, and that’s just something I do in my spare time.
“Being a footballer we’ve got an awful lot of time in our hands from day to day, so why not paint something and switch my mind off from the demands of everyday football – and it is demanding!
“The manager here, Brian Rice, analyses absolutely everything, every little fine detail, and that’s the way we play, so that’s why we have this togetherness, this spirit that we have.
“It’s kind of being fed to us, so it is a lot to take in, but that’s the way you get successful at whatever it is you do, whether it’s a game of football or whatever.
“If you do those little things, the big things will take care of themselves.
“The art thing, it’s a kind of escape. I’m going into my own little world, and it’s good.
“I’ve done it forever, for as far as I can remember, I’ve done art.
“It has been art and football, two things that I really love, and obviously I love football a lot more.”
