Accies hero Scott Martin 'buzzing' with goal but says win is more important

By Ben McNicol

Scott Martin was left “buzzing” after scoring Hamilton's clincher in an important 2-0 win against Ross County on Saturday but insisted that a significant improvement in performances and three points are much more important.

The tough-tackling midfielder scored Accies' second goal at a pivotal stage in Dingwall and admitted that he’s trying to add more to the attacking side of his game.

He said: “We’ve got a class dressing room where the boys want to play for each other, the manager and the club and everyone inside it knows what it takes to be a Hamilton player.

"You have to show the fight and determination to be in the league and stay in games.

“I’ve got two goals now as I’m claiming the Celtic one as well.

"I’ve been saying for ages that I want to add more to that side of my game, so hopefully that gives me the confidence to go on and do more of it in future games.

"That was probably my favourite one I’ve scored so far apart from my first one, maybe.”

The 24-year-old also believes that his side’s performances have improved over the last three or four weeks but said there is still plenty work to do be done.

He added: “We aren’t the best passers of the ball and may not be the most creative, but we scrap for every single ball.

"When we are in our units, organised and do the dirty side of the game, then we can go and play.

“Other than Hibs last week I think we’ve been doing it, so there is definitely something that’s changed at the club and hopefully it can continue.”
