Accident on M8 causing disruption for drivers in Glasgow

An car accident on the M8 in Glasgow is causing significant disruption for drivers in the city this morning.

The accident occurred just before 7am on the M8 Westbound between J15 and J16.

With police and TRISS (Trunk Road Incident Support Service) attending to assist and clear debris from the motorway.

As a result, lanes two and three of the motorway remain closed, with traffic passing in lane 1.

Queues are back to Junction 12, with Traffic Scotland advising of delays of approximately 45 minutes.

Queues are also forming southbound on the M80 from J3.

UPDATE - TRAFFIC NOW QUEUING BACK OT JUNCTION 8 ON M8, TRAFFIC SCOTLAND ARE ADVISING DRIVERS TO EXPECT DELAYS IF HEADING IN TO GLASGOW FROM EAST.
