Liverpool’s ACC is set for a series of refurbishments costing more than £5m.
The city council’s cabinet is set to consider approving funding for a series of repairs and improvements on the centre, on King’s Dock, which hosts a range of events.
Most recently, it hosted a controversial arms fair which saw large protests outside the complex, with a number of protestors being arrested by police.

A report to cabinet does not lay out the full detail of the repair and refurbishment work, with that set to be published later.
However, it said the work includes repairs to key infrastructure such as smoke and fire alarms, escalators, lifts, power circuits and air conditioning.
The complex is owned by Liverpool Council but is operated as a separate company, with the report saying the ACC’s management had been requesting funds for repairs for some time.
The report said: “The capital programme includes an amount of £5.765m which was set aside for essential replacement of equipment, operating system upgrades and capital works for ACC (subject to a further report with details of the works to be undertaken being brought forward to Cabinet for approval).
“ACCL have written to the Council on a number of occasions to express their frustrations and the detrimental impact the state of the facility is having on operations and event delivery.”
Under the proposals, it is planned that the work will take place over a three year time span.
The council’s cabinet will consider the proposals next Friday.
