VISAKHAPATNAM: The recent ACB raids on mandal revenue and tehsildar offices in Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram districts and the examination of seized documents have shown that revenue department officials are deliberately delaying delivery of services to people.
ACB officials had raided tehsildar offices at six places in Visakhapatnam district and six places in Vizianagaram district to expose irregularities in the offices. They also seized some documents.
Speaking to TOI, Shakeela Bhanu, ACB deputy superintendents of police in Vizag, said that they verified several records “We observed a deficiency of services from the officials without any reasonable cause. Several applications of the common people, who had applied for Pattadar passbook, some certificates, and few others have been pending with the officials,” she added.
There was inordinate delay in issue of community and income certificates and also some applications were rejected without specific reasons at some revenue offices in Visakhapatnam. Similarly, the ACB officials had observed irregularities in the process of land conversion (converting agricultural land into non-agricultural land) at few places in both the districts.
The ACB officials had received several complaints regarding land conversions. The revenue officials have kept pattadar passbooks with them without issuing them to the applicants.
