AC Milan remain Kristoffer Ajer 'admirers' as Italian giants draw up centre back shortlist

Italian giants AC Milan remain interested in Kristoffer Ajer despite deciding against making a move for the centre back in the summer.

But Ajer is still second on their list behind Fiorentina star Nikola Milenkovic, according to a report.

The Serie A outfit have been long-term admirers of Ajer and considered making a bid to take him to Italy before the end of the window in October.

Milan decided against signing a centre back when they couldn't get Milenkovic before the October 5 deadline because they knew it was just three months until the window opens again.

But now Tuttosport say a bid for Ajer will be placed if Milan decide that they can't get Milenkovic to swap Florence for the San Siro in the January window.

They say that Ajer is on their list, but Schalke defender Ozan Kabak and Milenkovic’s team-mate German Pezzella are also on the shortlist should they not get their man.

Ajer was one of a number of players believed to have asked Celtic for details on what sort of fee they would accept for him in the summer.

Neil Lennon criticised a host of Hoops players about their commitment to the club following their shock Champions League exit to Ferencvaros.
