AC Milan legend picks out "extraordinary" Man Utd star who he would sign

AC Milan legend Franco Baresi has hailed Marcus Rashford as an "extraordinary player" who he would have at the San Siro were he given the pick of Manchester United's squad.

The Red Devils frontman has continued to go from strength to strength this season.

Rashford has scored 18 times in all competitions but will be absent for tonight's clash through injury.

There will be no shortage of talent on display at Old Trafford in the Europa League tie however.

United's attacking power has long been their biggest strength under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

But when quizzed on which player he would like at Milan Baresi singled out the 23-year-old.

“I like Marcus Rashford a lot, he’s an extraordinary player," he told The Times.

“He wouldn’t be bad for Milan. He can play in any position up front; it would be a nice advantage.

“Rashford is a modern forward who has everything required to do well. He has already shown and done great things and he has a lot of quality.”

Rashford's 22 strikes last season was the best return of his career, but he is again on track to beat that.

The academy graduate would usually form an attacking line that also features the likes of Anthony Martial and Bruno Fernandes.

It was in Europe's secondary competition that Rashford made his mark as a teenager back in 2016 with a debut brace against Midtjylland.

Milan sit second in Serie A and are enjoying their best season for several years but Solskjaer is relishing the challenge.

He told the club's website: "Milan have an exciting new team, a young team, even though Zlatan [Ibrahimovic]’s playing! He comes in and gives them the experience.

"But they’ve rebuilt and now they’re second in the league and challenging to win [it]. Of course, it’s a good, good challenge for us.”
