AC Milan legend Andrea Pirlo recreates iconic Abbey Road album cover - in Liverpool

When in Rome ... do as the Romans do.

And when in Liverpool ... why not recreate an iconic album cover inspired by four Liverpudlians?

That's exactly what Italian football legend Andrea Pirlo did following AC Milan Legends' 3-2 defeat at Anfield in a charity match which raised £1million.

Along with team-mates Gennaro Gattuso, Massimo Oddo and Massimo Ambrosini, Pirlo recreated the famous Abbey Road album cover in Liverpool city centre.

Pirlo posted the image on Instagram with the message: “It’s been a hard day’s night... @thebeatles  came back  #liverpool   #beatles ."

And okay, Abbey Road is actually in London, but the sentiment was fine.

Pirlo scored a typically classy free-kick in the match watched by more than 54,000 fans.

But even more typically Steven Gerrard crashed a last minute winner from 20 yards to  ensure it really was The End for AC Milan legends.
