AC Milan chief admits talking to Liverpool for inside track on title success

A key member of staff at AC Milan has said the club have been talking to Liverpool as they look to take inspiration from the Reds.

Jurgen Klopp has taken Liverpool to the pinnacle of world football, guiding the club to triumphs in the Champions League, Super Cup and Club World Cup.

And now the German has got the Reds back on their perch with the confirmation of securing the Premier League title for the first time in 30 years.

Milan, who are seventh in Serie A are now on their longest run without winning the title since the 1980s, with their last triumph coming in the 2010/11 season.

Milan chief revenue officer Capser Stylsvig says the club have been in conversation with Liverpool, with the Reds having to wait three decades to end their title drought.

“We have been talking to Liverpool,” Stylsvig told The Associated Press. “Because they’ve been through the same path as we are going through now.

“We’re working very hard to get back to where we should be, and from that perspective, it does help open doors when you have won seven Champions Leagues.

“Playing European football is top of the agenda. It is our natural habitat and somewhere we should be.

“Four, five years ago, no one considered Liverpool and see where they are now.

“They obviously play very attractive football. They are winning, they have a fantastic manager, a fantastic team and now they are following suit from a commercial perspective.

“It has taken time, but their model seems to work.”
