'Abyss' - Former Nottingham Forest advisor has his say on Chris Hughton

Former Nottingham Forest advisor Adrian Bevington hopes Chris Hughton can lead the Reds out of the "abyss".

Hughton has taken charge at the City Ground, succeeding sacked Sabri Lamouchi.

"Good luck to Chris Hughton. A fine man with a proven track record of building teams," said Bevington on Twitter.

"Hopefully for the fans he can lead Forest out of their championship abyss."

Ex-Football Association executive Bevington was involved with the Reds in a consultancy role for a short spell in the 2015/16 season under then-owner Fawaz Al Hasawi.

Hughton was appointed the club's new manager on Tuesday night.

"Nottingham Forest are delighted to announce the appointment of Chris Hughton as the club’s new manager," Forest said in a statement.

"Hughton joins the club with a wealth of managerial experience, leading both Newcastle United and Brighton to promotion from the Championship and going on to establish both teams in the Premier League.

"The former Republic of Ireland international also boasted an impressive playing career, winning two FA Cups and the UEFA Cup during his time at Tottenham Hostpur.

"Hughton has also managed Norwich City in the Premier League, leading them to an 11th-placed finish in 2012-13, and has managed close to 450 first-team games with a win percentage of over 40 per cent."
