Abuser pushed and shoved woman and sent her 'spiteful' messages

A man who subjected a woman to violence and harassment has been spared immediate custody.

Bradley Thomas, AKA King, faced trial but admitted wrongdoing as a trial started.

The 27-year-old, whose address was given as Sanders Close in Bristol, pleaded guilty to coercive behaviour and harassment.

The recorder Mr Noel Casey imposed a 22 months prison sentence, suspended for two years.

Speaking via video link from Basildon Crown Court, he told Thomas: "Most of it happened when you consumed alcohol.

"Some people can drink and behave themselves.

"Some people can't.

"Regrettably, you fall into the latter category."

Thomas was ordered to have no contact with the complainant, indefinitely.

He was also told to undergo rehabilitation and alcohol treatment and abide by a three-month curfew in which he must be indoors from 7pm to 7am.

He must also pay a £140 victim surcharge.

Bristol Crown Court heard Thomas pushed and shoved the woman and sent her spiteful messages via text and social media.

Anjali Gohil, defending, said: "He has pleaded to the counts.

"What he did was wrong.

"What he did has caused damage to (the woman).

"That is fully accepted by Bradley Thomas."

Miss Gohil told the court her client had learning difficulties and depression and had served the equivalent of 12 months on remand.
