'Absolutely ridiculous!' - Tottenham fans fume at Harry Kane snub amid Kevin De Bruyne PFA award

Tottenham fans have been reacting to Harry Kane's snub in the PFA player of the year award.

Kane was one of the six nominees for the award alongside Kevin De Bruyne, Ilkay Gundogan, Phil Foden, Ruben Dias and Bruno Fernandes.

But despite finishing as the Premier League's leading goalscorer with 23 goals and the leading player for assists with 14 in a Spurs side that finished in seventh place, Kane has been overlooked for the award.

It was revealed this evening that De Bruyne has been voted by his fellow professionals as the winner for the second consecutive season after helping City win the Premier League title.

Ruben Dias was favourite to win after picking up the Premier League player of the year award, while City teammate Foden also missed out, but he was voted as the young player of the year.

Ilkay Gundogan was also fancied by many ahead of De Bruyne after a superb campaign, but it is the Belgian who has come out on top for the second season running.

De Bruyne managed ten goals and 18 assists for City across all competitions as they also won the Carabao Cup and reached the Champions League final.

The 29-year-old did, however, miss 13 games through injury across the course of the season, and some Spurs fans believe he wasn't a worthy winner over Kane.

Here's what they have had to say on Twitter.

@Ranj_sidwho - "He is good and all but Kane is so clear it's not even funny what a joke #COYS."

@Bretther - "Kane leads the PL in goals AND assists and somehow doesn’t get player of the year? In what world? #COYS"

@Footblltalk - "Kane even has to leave to win Player of the year awards now does he? #THFC #COYS."

@Jordanpomeroy00 - "Kane didn’t get player of the year. Guy got the most goals AND ASSISTS in the Premier League last season. Absolutely ridiculous. #THFC #COYS #PremierLeague"

@L0nd0n99 - "Kane robbed."

@Arjun1363 - "The fact that Kane is only appreciated by Spurs fans even though he's English just amazes me! Will probably go down as one of the greatest English strikers but people will still have agendas! And KDB winning the award is an absolute farce!"
