'Absolutely pathetic': Owen Jones 'kicked out of Labour Party conference'

OWEN Jones has claimed he has been kicked out of the Labour Party conference.

The journalist and National columnist wrote on social media that his conference pass had been "cancelled" with immediate effect, branding the decision "clearly insane".

In an email he shared from Labour's conference services team, it was claimed his pass was cancelled "following complaints we have received about your conduct".

The email further went on to say the party has "a responsibility to safeguard all our delegates, staff, volunteers, and visitors, and to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for everyone at conference".

"After careful consideration, we've concluded that we cannot continue your attendance while ensuring we meet our safeguarding obligations to all attendees," the email added.

Jones has attended Labour Party conferences for the last decade and is known for filming "annual conference videos" where he approaches MPs.

He wrote: "Absolutely pathetic, Trumpian behaviour.

"They are here suggesting that attempts to question Cabinet members and MPs about Britain facilitating Israel's genocide is a 'safeguarding issue'.

"This is clearly insane."

Jones continued: "I've been filming videos at Labour and Tory conference for a decade now.

This involves trying to get ministers to answer questions which – unfortunately! – most media outlets refuse to ask.

"After countless videos, this is the first time my pass has been revoked."

He added: "The Labour government has armed and facilitated one of the worst crimes of our age.

"They can try and shut down scrutiny of this fact – but they will not wash away their guilt."

Jones confirmed he has now left the Labour Party conference in Liverpool, adding that a video of this year's conference "will be up soon".

At a similar time, Novara Media journalist Rivkah Brown said her conference pass had also been cancelled due to an unspecified "breach of the event code of conduct".

Brown added: "I've been told to leave Labour conference. When I asked why, I was informed a complaint had been made about me in writing about an incident.

"I was told I could appeal the decision, but they couldn't tell me who'd made the complaint, or why. So, appeal what?"

The Labour Party has been contacted for comment.
