'Absolutely magic' - Harvey Elliott sends Liverpool fans wild with latest goal for Blackburn

Liverpool fans are waxing lyrical about Blackburn Rovers loanee Harvey Elliott after he scored an impressive goal with his so-called weaker foot against Watford.

Elliott, starting off the right flank for Tony Mowbray's Blackburn, produced a thumping finish shortly before half-time.

After a loose ball fell to him just inside the penalty area, he shifted the ball onto his right foot and slammed a brilliant strike into the roof of the net from a tight angle.

It was a lovely first touch to perfectly control the swirling ball before a hammer-blow off his weak side left Daniel Bachmann stranded.

On loan from Liverpool, Elliott has really caught the eye during his season with Blackburn. This was his fifth goal of the season, to add to the nine assists he also has registered.

No player aged under 23 in the division has more direct goal involvements than him, while his nine assists currently rank joint-top among all players.

Elliott is among the most dangerous attacking players in the English second-tier, all the age of 17. And Liverpool fans are loving it.

In a Reddit thread discussing his strike against Watford, fans praised Elliott's ability off his weak side and expressed their excitement for his Liverpool return in the summer.

One fan wrote: "Is that weak footed? So 5 goals, 9 assists (co-leader in the league) as a 17yr old not even starting every game. Kid is special."

Another replied: "On course to finish the season with like 8 goals, 15 assists which is absolutely magic for a kid his age in that league."

Another added: "Good for him, he's playing really well this season. I wonder if we'll give him a chance next season or loan him out again. Either way kids got a bright future I reckon."

Before one final fan concluded: "Elliott does what Elliott does best...score...with left or right foot..and an assist king too.

"We have a special player in our squad for sure, hope Klopp gives him some 1st team appearances next year."

On Elliott and his future prospects at Liverpool, the ECHO's chief Liverpool writer, Ian Doyle, recently explained that there may be a place in the first-team set-up next year.

"He has shown he can play for the Liverpool first team and he has broken Liverpool records, and now no player in the Championship has more assists than him," said Ian Doyle on the Blood Red podcast.

"Tony Mowbray has basically just said ‘give him the ball’ because he will create chances and openings.

"Last season, Curtis Jones was the best player in the UEFA Youth League and Harvey Elliott was not too far behind - and he was still 16 then!

"Fulham wanted £10m plus £10m in add-ons and that underlines that they knew what kind of potential he has got and that he is going to be a £20m footballer at least.

"I fully expect that next season he will be back at Liverpool and challenging for a first-team place.

"He has impressed Klopp and the rest of the coaching staff, and more importantly, the rest of the players trust him as well."
