Chelsea fans worst fears were confirmed when it was announced that Callum Hudson-Odoi had ruptured his Achilles and would undergo an operation on Tuesday.
The 18-year-old had to be substituted against Burnley after a somewhat innocuous moment as he collected the ball from the air and was then unable to walk properly after landing.
The Blues did not make an official assessment of the scale of the injury following the game but the youngster ruled himself out of the rest of the season.

In a post on his official Twitter account after the game, Hudson-Odoi revealed the extent of the problem.
"Really gutted to end my season with a ruptured Achilles," he posted. "Gotta work hard and try and come back stronger for next season!"
Now the next stage of the winger's recovery is in place and Chelsea's statement read: "Callum is seeing a specialist this afternoon and is expected to undergo surgery on his ruptured Achilles tendon this evening."
