‘Absolutely brilliant’ – Juventus fans point out Edu’s £31.5m Arsenal transfer mistake

Manuel Locatelli has made a fast start to his Juventus career and is clearly already becoming a fans favourite in Turin.

The 23-year-old Italy star had been a strong target for the Gunners at the start of the summer window, but Juventus slammed the door shut on the possibility of bringing him to north London.

In addition to extending Granit Xhaka’s contract, Arsenal signed two more midfield options in Albert Sambi Lokonga and Martin Odegaard in the transfer window, as Edu and Mikel Arteta identified the position as an area of weakness.

However, many Gunners’ fans are still discouraged by the fact that they didn’t sign one or two more potential stars, as emphasised by their early midfield injury problems.

Some are still hopeful that they might go back in for the likes of Houssem Aouar and James Maddison in the January transfer window, whilst others are still disappointed by the fact they missed out on one of their key transfer targets in Locatelli.

On the other hand, Juventus fans are delighted with their club for signing the Italian, and following his performance in the 3-0 win away to against Malmo in the Champions League on Tuesday night, they believe he is exactly the calibre of player they need to bring to the Emirates.

Take a look at what’s been said on Twitter.

With the transfer window now over, Arteta is fully focused on succeeding in the Premier League with the squad currently at his disposal.

Although the Gunners have only won one in four of their opening Premier League games this season, they’ll be hoping their form improves in time, starting with Saturday's clash against Burnley at Turf Moor.
