'Absolute unit' - Nottingham Forest player ratings as Chris Hughton gets off to a winning start

Nottingham Forest were 1-0 winners at Ewood Park in their first game under Chris Hughton.

Here's how Matt Davies rated the Reds against Blackburn Rovers.

Brice Samba: Barely troubled throughout the game with only one tame shot to save. Handled and kicked well. 6

Cyrus Christe: One excellent header in the second half to deny a chance. Defended well but was unable to get forwards as much as he would like. 7

Tobias Figueiredo: A nervy moment in the first half when he slipped and was booked. Should have done better with a header from six yards after the break. 7

Scott McKenna: An absolute unit at the back. Won his headers and did nothing fancy. Defended well. 7.5

Nicholas Ioannou: Looked like he would be troubled by Tyrhus Dolan early on but coped well with him and got forwards when he could. 7

Joe Lolley: Put in a wonderful cross in the second half and looked fitter than in previous games this season after struggling with injury. Got the late winner! 7.5

Ryan Yates: Good protection in front of the back four. Twitter went into meltdown when he was picked, but he did his job well. 7.5

Jack Colback: Competitive and looked closer to his old self before going off injured early in the second half. 7/10

Sammy Ameobi: Almost scored at the near post but his shot was pushed away then hit the post with a wonderful late effort. 7

Luke Freeman: Had moments where he looked bright and creative but also looked miles off it at times with some really lax moments. 6

Lewis Grabban: Never looked like scoring but had pretty limited service to be fair to him. Has Lyle Taylor breathing down his neck 6

Subs

Harry Arter (for Colback 49): A neat and tidy performance in midfield from the Ireland international. Useful work breaking up the play. 6.5

Lyle Taylor (for Grabban 73): Did well when he came on, making life hard for defenders. Almost scored at the near post. 6.5

Samba Sow (for Lolley 90): On in stoppage to see the gamae out. N/A

Not used: Smith, Mbe Soh, Jenkinson, Mighten
