Tributes are pouring in for a 'lovely' missing Scot after police searching for her confirmed they found a body.
We told how the body of a woman was discovered in the search for missing Christine Thomson.
The 61-year-old was reported missing from the Seafield Terrace area of Keith in Moray on Monday.
On Tuesday night officers confirmed the grim discovery and that while formal identification was yet to take place, Christine's next of kin had been informed.
There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death at this time.
The tragic news sparked an outpouring of public tributes to Christine on social media who was hailed as 'a topper of a lady'.
One loved one wrote: "So sad and my thoughts to her family.
"Such a lovely person."
Another added: "Christine she was the best.
"Absolute topper of a lady.
"Thoughts are with her family."
A third posted: "So sad to hear this.
"She was a lovely woman.
"Thoughts are with her family."
An appeal to fine Christine was launched on Tuesday in a desperate bid to find Christine.
Police, fire crews and coastguard teams searching the area close to the River Isla near Keith train station.
The Coastguard helicopter was also deployed.
In a statement Police Scotland say: “The body of a woman has been found in the Keith area following searches for Christine Thomson, 61, who had been reported missing.
“The body is still to be formally identified but her next of kin has been made aware.
“There are no apparent suspicious circumstances.”
