'Absolute role models' - Nottingham Forest forgotten man shares brilliant message

Nottingham Forest forgotten man Michael Hefele has shared a message on social media praising the club's European Cup heroes.

It's 40 years ago today since Forest became the first British club to record back-to-back European Cup titles.

The Reds are celebrating the occasion on social media and Hefele, who is yet to play a single minute of first-team football for the Reds this season, has taken to Twitter to celebrate the occasion.

Forest ran out 1-0 winners in Madrid, beating Hamburg thanks to John Robertson's first-half strike.

They followed up the 1979 success to record a second European Cup, becoming the first club to win the competition more times than they had won their country's League title.

And Hefele is the latest to show his admiration for the brilliant achievment.

Hefele said: "What an achievement!!

"Absolute role models and a great inspiration for everybody!

"Footballer, supporter or German like me."

Curiously, Hefele is yet to play in the League or even the FA or League cups this season.

He was signed from Huddersfield Town in summer 2018 to provide some Premier League experience, having gone up with the Terriers the season before.

But he is out of favour under Forest boss Sabri Lamouchi and was told he could leave in pre-season.
