'Absolute madness!' - Arsenal fans react to what Mikel Arteta has done against Crystal Palace

Mikel Arteta's team selection for the Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace has got a number of Arsenal fans talking.

The Gunners go into the game on the back of a 2-0 win over Newcastle United as they sealed a place in the third round of the FA Cup, although they needed extra-time to get the job done.

With that said, Arsenal's form continues to improve.

A month ago, Arteta's side were sitting 15th in the table after making their worst ever start to a Premier League season and that prompted talk of a relegation battle.

However, the north London outfit are now looking towards the top half of the table following wins over Chelsea, Brighton and West Brom.

In an attempt to remain on the winning trail and move level on points with Chelsea, Arteta has made several changes to the side which started against the Magpies.

Eight to be exact.

As expected, Granit Xhaka, Alexandre Lacazette, Bukayo Saka, and Emile Smith Rowe are among those recalled after being substitutes against Newcastle last weekend.

There are also recalls for Hector Bellerin, Rob Holding, and Dani Ceballos, while Ainsley Maitland-Niles is a surprise inclusion at left-back over the in-form Kieran Tierney.

Arsenal XI: Leno; Bellerin, David Luiz, Holding, Maitland-Niles; Xhaka, Ceballos; Saka, Smith Rowe, Aubameyang; Lacazette

Most of the reaction from Arsenal supporters on social media has centered around no Tierney in the starting XI.

Arsenal have since explained Tierney's absence against Palace.

"Kieran Tierney is rested for tonight’s game as a precaution, due to muscle tightness," the club posted on their official Twitter account.

Meanwhile, Pablo Mari also misses out as a precaution, due to tightness in his calf.
