Jamie Carragher has issued a furious rant after West Ham were denied a late draw at Sheffield United in the Premier League this evening.
Oli McBurnie's strike gave the Blades a second-half lead which was almost erased late in injury time when Robert Snodgrass found the back of the net.
But VAR was consulted over a potential handball before the goal was disallowed as Declan Rice was adjudged to have handled in the area in the lead up to Snodgrass' finish.
VAR was upholding the rule which was changed at the start of the season that now means even non-deliberate handballs can lead to disallowed goals.
Liverpool legend Carragher is certainly not a fan of the rule and he shared in West Ham fans' frustrations in the aftermath of the VAR decision.
Carragher explained on Sky Sports during commentary: "That is the rule now. The handball rule is an absolute joke.
"There is no way goals like that should not be given in football.
"It's embarrassing that it's not a goal. Nobody knows what is going on.
"There is no intention there whatsoever. He (Rice) is shaking his head and rightly so. It's a joke this handball rule."
