An iconic mosaic removed from Edinburgh's Rose Street has gone on sale online - but a campaign as been launched to buy it back.
The Maggie Howarth artwork, which dates back to the 1980s, is listed on a reclamation website at a price of £1,800.
However Edinburgh Spotlight have launched a Crowdfunding campaign in a bid to buy it back.
The appeal reads: "We are raising money to 'buy back' one of Maggie Howarth's mosaics that has been in Rose Street since the 1980s.
"There were originally eight pieces of 'rose' artwork installed in the 1980s, but only five still exist and we feel that this one should be restored to its rightful place, on Rose Street."
A spokesperson for Edinburgh Council said that the mosaics were "surplus features which were previously sold as part of a depot site redevelopment".
One wrote: "An absolute disgrace! Other councils in scotland are actively encouraging and installing public art, but Edinburgh Council is selling it off and replacing it with tarmac. Shameless."
