'Absolute disaster' - Arsenal fans couldn't believe what happened to Lacazette after Leno injury

There was controversy at the Amex Stadium on Saturday.

In an historic event, the match between Brighton & Hove Albion and Arsenal was the first to be broadcast live on television at 3pm on a Saturday.

And there was drama on the pitch with Arsenal suffering yet another injury.

Pablo Mari and Granit Xhaka were both forced off during the Gunners' first outing since March against Manchester City on Wednesday night.

And there was worse news on Saturday when goalkeeper Bernd Leno had to be stretchered off following a collision with Seagulls striker Neal Maupay.

Mikel Arteta has faith in David Luiz

Maupay need not have made the challenge, he was not going to get the ball, but it was an innocuous one that strikers often make to just give the keeper a little nudge in going for the ball.

Leno was in agony, although he did have words with Maupay as he was taken off the pitch just before half-time

But what happened soon after half-time got the Gunners fans' backs up just as much, if not more than that incident itself.

Alexandre Lacazette made a late sliding challenge on Brighton keeper Mat Ryan and was booked.

Maupay did not get a booking for the challenge that caused Leno to be stretchered off.

And to make matters worse, Maupay went on to score the winning goal to condemn Arsenal to defeat.

And that sparked ugly scenes on the pitch at the end of the match.
