'Absolute belter': Popular author praises Glasgow pub

A POPULAR author has praised an iconic Glasgow pub, calling it an "absolute belter".

Crime writer Ian Rankin, best known for his Inspector Rebus novels, took to Twitter to share his appreciation for The Laurieston which is located on Bridge Street.

Sharing a picture of the pub, he wrote: "Absolute belter of a pub, by the way. More characters than a computer keyboard…"

Responding to a comment from one person calling the pub "the best", he added: "£4.30 for a good pint of Guinness. No complaints here."

The category C listed pub has remained virtually unchanged since the 1960s and has been used for filming movies such as Young Adam and Wild Rose.
