Originally making liquid-filled compasses, Suunto -- Finnish for direction -- has become a specialist in sports watches, instruments and dive computers tested in harsh conditions.
The latest collection of watches include Suunto 9 Baro Titanium worn by trail runner and ski mountaineer Kilian Jornet, who made a special appearance at its Bangkok launch held recently at Emporium Gallery, The Emporium.

The Spanish brand ambassador is also an accomplished alpinist, who has set speed ascents on the highest mountains of Europe and the Americas as well as reached the world's highest summit, Mount Everest, in 2015.
A multisport GPS watch, Suunto 9 Baro Titanium has a built-in pressure sensor measuring ambient air pressure and barometric altitude that gives more accurate information and ascent/descent values in combination with the GPS data.
Without a barometer, the Suunto 9 calculates altitude and its changes based only on GPS information and cannot show outdoor insights like sea level air pressure and storm alarms like the Suunto 9 Baro Titanium.
With straps available in white, lime or black, Suunto 9 along with Suunto 3 Fitness in burgundy and copper colourways are other members of the new collection.
The Finnish brand equips its multisport GPS watches with a battery life management and reminder system, useful for long arduous training and racing as well as extreme adventures.
The intelligent battery modes deliver from 25 to 120 hours of recording time with GPS tracking on. If the watch notices you are running low on battery during an exercise, the smart reminder will suggest changing to a different battery mode.
