About Charlotte Leslie

Charlotte, 29, is the Conservatives' prospective parliamentary candidate for Bristol North West.

The seat is held by the Labour MP, Doug Naysmith, but boundary changes have made it a winnable seat for the Conservatives.

Charlotte has lived in Bristol for over 25 years. She is a freelance writer, researcher on public services policy and edits Crossbow, the magazine of the centre-right thinktank the Bow Group.

Her other Bow Group reports include The Invisible Children and SEN: The Truth about Inclusion.

Charlotte read classics at Balliol College, Oxford, and during university holidays worked as a surf lifeguard in north Cornwall.

She went on to work in television production at the BBC on a number of entertainment shows including The Weakest Link and The Holiday Programme.

She then became a tutor for children with learning difficulties.

Charlotte co-authored More Good School Places for the thinktank Policy Exchange, before becoming special adviser to MP David Willetts and working on the party's public services policy group.

Charlotte enjoys literature, music (she's a big Bob Dylan fan) and sport. She used to swim at national level for the City of Bristol, making the national finals in 100m and 200m backstroke.

She also used to box, though did not compete. These days she runs, surfs and still enjoys boxing training.
