About 57,000 passengers impacted as Berlin airport cancels all flights

  • No passenger flights will depart from Berlin Brandenburg Airport on Wednesday due to a warning strike by airport staff.
  • German trade union Ver.di, called on employees of airport operator Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH (FBB) to take part in the pursuit of higher wages for employees.
  • The strike is expected to affect 445 departures and arrivals, impacting about 57,000 passengers.
  • About 2,000 staff members, including those from the fire department, air traffic control, and terminal management, will participate in the strike.
  • This follows recent industrial action in Germany, including a strike by Lufthansa pilots last week over pension disputes.
