'Aboriginal Funeral Plan' run for-profit by non-Indigenous owners and management

The royal commission heard evidence that Indigenous customers took out funeral insurance policies believing that the Aboriginal Community Benefit Fund was run by Indigenous people and would pay out the money they had paid in premiums on their death, when neither were the case.

The commission also heard that ACBF has a large number of young customers, with up to two-thirds under 30 years of age and a third under 18, but the company denied targeting parents to insure their children.
