Listing of Life Insurance Corporation (LIC), which has acted as a lender of last resort for many lame duck financial institutions over the years, could make it as the most valued company. Abolishing the Dividend Distribution Tax (DDT) and allowing the shareholders to pay it should be hailed. It was ludicrous to make firms pay the DDT (Taxes, “No more double taxation on dividends,” Feb. 02).
