A police escort was needed to transport this oversized load through Merseyside today.
Roads Policing Unit posted images of the object on its social media account, saying: "First job of the day for the motorcycle team was escorting and ensuring safe movement of this oversized load through Merseyside."
The item concerned, which was transported on an Irish heavy haulage vehicle, appeared to be a giant wheel used for coiling wire or other material.
A police escort is provided on request of the haulier or where it is deemed necessary due to the size of the load. The haulier is charged for the service.
The policing unit thanked other road users for their patience while the load was being transported.
