Abida Karim: Leeds dad admits murdering his wife in their Harehills home

A man has admitted murdering his wife in their home in Harehills.

Sajid Pervez appeared before Leeds Crown Court yesterday (Tuesday) over the death of 39-year-old Abida Karim.

Police were called to a report of a killing at the couple's home on Hovingham Terrace at 5.29am on Friday (September 24).

Paramedics pronounced Mrs Karim, described by those who knew her as "amazing", dead at the scene.

Police said the death was being treated as a domestic-related murder.

Pervez appeared before the court via a video link from Armley jail for a pre-trial review.

He had not previously been arraigned and a trial had been provisionally listed for January 25.

The 38-year-old entered a guilty plea to murder.

His sentencing hearing was adjourned to February 19.

Pervez was returned to custody after the hearing.
