Abi's drug hell after horror crush on Coronation Street

Abi Franklin never seems to get a break does she?

Just as she was about to make amends for the past and say goodbye to her twins as they headed off for a new life in Australia, disaster struck on Coronation Street.

Abi promised her son Seb that she’d meet him later to say their final goodbyes to Charlie and Lexi, the twins she gave up for adoption.

But when her boyfriend Kevin Webster headed out to a breakdown leaving Abi alone in the garage, a car engine slipped trapping her arm leaving Seb to believe that she had let them down again.

After the accident, Seb calls at number 13 looking for Abi, furious that she didn’t turn up to say goodbye to the twins and is shocked to discover that she has been in a serious accident and is in hospital.

Sadly, Abi being hurt leads the recovering drug addict back to a dark path she hoped she had left behind when she's given the highly addictive painkiller morphine.

As Kevin heads off for work leaving Abi relaxing on the sofa at home, she knocks back a slug just as her ex Peter Barlow arrives, stuffing it down the side of the sofa.

Debbie is suspicious of Abi (ITV)

She insists to recovering alcoholic Peter she didn’t take anything from the hospital and he leaves, but Abi is furious when she realises the morphine has gone.

Later Peter urges her get some help and when his partner Carla finds out he's supporting her with her addiction she warns him to be careful as it’s not that long ago she was in love with him.

Meanwhile Kev’s sister Debbie Webster returns to Weatherfield and warns her not to mess her brother about.

Abi calls Peter and she assures him she’ll be at a meeting later to help with her addiction.

Sally Carman plays Abi (ITV)

When Debbie offers to cook lunch, suggesting they should get to know each other better, Abi has little choice but to accept.

But when Abi disappears as soon as she has eaten Debbie is suspicious.

Abi, played by Sally Carman, lost her twins because of her drug addiction.

Seb ended bringing up his younger siblings virtually alone until they went into foster care.

In 2018 Abi put the twins up for adoption and Seb wanted to care for Charlie and Lexi himself.

But Abi but paid to his plan after she told the adoption hearing that they were better off staying with their foster parents.

She was presented with the opportunity of saying a last goodbye to them after mechanic Kevin by chance met their new dad and he announced that they were emigrating.

Abi then heard their parents were happy to let her say goodbye in person.

She bottled out of a previous meeting and this had been her last chance.
