Hamilton Accies hope to land Finnish under-21 international Miko Virtanen on a deal from Aberdeen.
Virtanen signed for the Dons from Everton in 2017 but has only played a handful of games, and the Pittodrie club say it's up to him to decide his future - though it's not certain if he would move on loan or permanently.
Hamilton have expressed an interest in the midfielder, according to the Daily Record, and would hope to emulate a similar loan move for forward Bruce Anderson from Aberdeen last season.
But the New Douglas Park club are battling against Championship rivals Morton and Ayr United for his signature.
